New Collation: 2 Clement 1-6

As I said the other day, I’m trying to end April with a bang. I’ve given you a gallery of readers, started and finished a series on how I think readers should work, and I am now giving you part three of my shibang.

I have collated every known existing Greek manuscript for 2 Clement 1-6. Yeah, that’s right, all two of them! You can find the collation on my collations page. You may not know this, but the textual apparatus for 2 Clement (and I’m assuming for all books) in Holme’s totally awesome third edition is not exhaustive. Frankly, it doesn’t really need to be. However, this means that you’ll have to look elsewhere to get all the variants...like on my collations page.

I have only checked my collation against Holmes apparatus for the first chapter. I was trying to get my collation done this month, so I had to shortchange this part of the process. The collation of Alexandrinus has been double-checked and the collation of Hierosolymitanus has been at least triple-checked. In some places more. So I didn’t shortchange the most important part! I see that Holmes and I note changes differently and I have some additions (because his isn’t exhaustive), but there are no substantive disagreements between his apparatus and my collation. I’ll move on to rest of the chapters soon, possibly tomorrow. Anyway, here you go, you now have a collation you can use.

And there was much rejoicing...

At some point I’ll have to put up some posts explaining how my collations are setup. I’ll add that to my to-do list. But, for now, happy April!
